Shading wood is a technique that can be done by most people using a Bernzomatic torch and just a few essential, inexpensive materials.

Directions

  1. Ignite the Bernzomatic TS8000, and apply heat to the wood until the desired color is reached.
  2. Next, take a wire brush to the charred wood in order to remove any ash.
  3. Use a razor blade to scrape the wood in order to ensure that all ash is removed.
  4. Sand the wood to get a nice smooth finish to the shaded wood
  5. Apply a clear coat to ensure a lasting finish.

  • Read the instructions that come with your torch before beginning your project.
  • The torch flame should be blue for optimal temperature.
